American Truck Simulator v1.46 update is available to download now, introducing the US-20 highway and several new features.
After much work and anticipation, SCS Software has released update v1.46 for its American Truck Simulator title.
Over several weeks of teaser updates, the Czech development studio informed fans about improvements to its hit trucking game. These include the addition of the US-20 freeway, new Idaho vantage points, proprietary chemical tanker trailers, custom city intros, driveshaft torque simulation, and a new enterprise browser system.
Below we explain the main improvements.
Viewpoints US-20 and Idaho
US-20 serves as a vital connection to the US-191 freeway and will American Truck Simulator (ATS) players who own the Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho DLC packs have full access to Yellowstone National Park.
US-20 stretches across the United States from Oregon in the west to Massachusetts in the east, making it one of the nation’s most important trade routes. The route also opens up a connection between Idaho Falls and West Yellowstone, connecting the Idaho and Montana DLC packs.

For Idaho DLC owners, the v1.46 update also brings a refresh to its vantage points, bringing them up to speed with more modern map packs.

Proprietary chemical trailers
Tank trailers aren’t new to ATS or Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2), however, in anticipation of ATS’ upcoming Texas DLC – and its focus on the chemical industry – SCS has allowed players to purchase their own chemical tank trailers.
These will carry highly volatile chemicals like hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and pesticides into the game – it goes without saying that careful driving will be required. The trailers include three types of single chain frame (43ft two-axle, 48ft three-axle and 53ft four-axle), with a range of customization options including:
- Chassis type
- Paints (base and DLC)
- Markers
- Rear bumper
- Mudguards
- Hoses, tool boxes, fire extinguishers, etc.

Custom city intros and driveshaft torque
Custom City Intros were introduced in the ETS2 rework in Hannover and Austria and proved so successful that they also moved to ATS.
With v1.46, custom town intros were introduced for owners of Wyoming and Colorado DLC packs, allowing for a cutscene featuring the player’s starting town (as long as the town has a suitable garage, that is- to say).

A menu option for “driveshaft torque” has also been added and, when enabled, simulates wheel spin as trucks accelerate. This will cause the front left wheel to “lift slightly”, according to the developers, but should add another layer of immersion to the popular truck simulation.

Company Browser and Gallery Update
A business browser has been added to ATS for the first time, allowing players to more easily search for specific industries, trailer types, and destinations. This allows players to better plan deliveries based on the types of trailers and locations they wish to deliver to.
ATS V1.46 also sees a new Gallery mode that tracks all player images, photo trophies, and uncovered vantage points. It retains the game’s previous screenshot manager functionality, but adds the ability to earn “photo trophies”.

Photo Trophies are achievements awarded for taking photos of in-game landmarks or points of interest that can be found via special icons on the game map.
The SCS Software team has also improved the user interface of the screenshot upload feature, ensuring that it’s much easier for players to view and upload their favorite screenshots to the World of Trucks servers.
