11 Gotham Knights tips to kick criminal ass and clean up the streets in style

With these tips, I’m ready to save Gotham.

When you first become familiar with Gotham Knights, it can be a counter-intuitive mix of familiar mechanics grafted onto a confusing mishmash of systems from other games. There are Arkham-inspired by hand-to-hand combat, a Fate-style progression system and RPG elements that might give you the mistaken impression that you are playing a Diablo-As. Here are some tips for reducing the clutter and bringing order to the chaos of a city without Batman.

Most character progression continues, so switch heroes as often as you like

To Gotham Knights start, you have the option to start the game with one of the four members of the Bat Family. You might think this choice would alienate you from the other three vigilantes, but that’s definitely not the case. Even the game makes it clear that you can freely switch characters whenever you want by simply returning to the gang’s base of operations, The Belfry, though it was soon glossed over and only mentioned again in the game’s database. suits lined up in open display cases. Interacting with them swaps your character. And don’t worry, each member levels up at the same time, so you won’t lose any progress.

You should seriously explore the open world

Gotham City isn’t as big an open world as, say, Assassin’s Creed Valhallais 11th-century England, but that doesn’t mean you should overlook any of its many vibrant side-activities. Bank robberies, gang hideouts, homicide investigations, stolen vehicles – pretty much anything you do (except for beating up cops) grants you experience points and/or crafting materials. There’s also plenty of loot to find, collectibles to discover, and henchmen to cover (in the dirt). Plus, you’ll need to grind the open world to progress through some of the game’s main missions, as well as unlock the various superhero costumes and colorways available to save in style. So might as well get used to your regular Gotham Night Patrol early.

Practice, practice, practice those perfect attacks and dodges

Gotham Knights is totally fine with you blasting your way through combat. Find henchmen who are committing crimes on the streets of Gotham and crush their skulls by repeatedly pressing the attack button. Cool, no problem. But if you want to deal more damage while quickly filling up your momentum meter (a bar that allows you to perform unlockable character-specific combat abilities), then you’ll need to master Perfect Attacks. But you can only become adept at perfect attacks by practicing perfect dodges, which are done by dodging at the last possible second before an enemy’s strike connects to your dome. Do that and you’ll get that satisfying semi-slow dodge that leaves your opponent open to a perfect, high-damage counterattack. Now you can bash the bad guys in style.

Complete these chivalry challenge missions as soon as possible

Since Gotham is in constant peril, the game will throw you plenty of challenges and missions to complete on a regular basis. One of the first available revolves around chivalry, the prospect of becoming the vigilante Gotham needs and earning the trust of the townspeople. It’s great to become Gotham’s protector after Batman’s death, but you’ll want to complete the Knighthood challenges sooner for an entirely different reason: to unlock the unique carry ability for each member of the Bat Family. It’s a bit tedious, however. You must complete the Timed Strikes training mission, stop 10 premeditated crimes and defeat three minibosses. You also need to complete these challenges with each character to complete their Knighthood, which means this is the only case where level progression doesn’t carry over between families.

But completing them and earning Knighthood unlocks that character’s fast travel method, like Batgirl’s Cape Glide or Nightwing’s technological equivalent, the mechanical glider. Now you’ll have more ways than the grappling hook or the Batcycle to get around Gotham City.

Raise the numbers

You can only craft gear at the Belfry, so be sure to update your gear before you go on patrol. Usually it’s just a matter of creating the blueprint with the highest total power level. But there are also other wrinkles to watch out for, like health packs. Different armor comes with different heal numbers, so if you’re bad at not getting shot, make sure your loadout has room for more than a few.

Nightwing and Red Hood defeat some Court of Owl henchmen inside what appears to be an underground crypt.

Prioritize Equipment With Elemental Effects

Don’t just pay attention to the size of the digits when comparing different melee and ranged weapons. Some also drop with elemental effects that stack damage over time. Even if these don’t perfectly match an enemy’s weakness, they will still result in a lot more bonus damage that will reduce the work of tougher enemies.

Don’t forget to dismantle your crummy gear

Throw out old stuff early and often. You’ll pick up resources for doing this and it will keep your inventory more manageable.

Unlock Fast Travel Early

Gotham has a lot of ground to cover, and unless you want to feel like an Uber driver spending all night heading north and south across the city’s many bridges, you’ll need to unlock travel points. fast. After the Blackgate Penitentiary incident with Harley Quinn, you’ll receive a message from Lucius Fox about some new gadgets, including one that will take you from ward to ward in the blink of an eye.

However, to unlock each district’s fast travel point, you’ll need to hunt the police drones and disable them. Doing this for each district from the start will reduce wasted time in later patrols. It will also be easier if you have already unlocked Nightwing’s glider or one of the other heroes’ special traversal abilities.

Don’t miss the loot chests

Crime doesn’t pay, but shutting it down does. If you defeat a group of goons on patrol, chances are there’s a chest with bonus rewards nearby. A smoldering rocket near where the enemies were is a sure sign, so use your scanner and briefly check for extra crafting resources.

Save rare caches for later

Gotham is full of Talon Caches and other rare finds, but since gear scales with your level, unlocking them early will yield loot that will quickly become obsolete. Instead, you’ll want to wait until later in the game to pick up items to guarantee yourself Legendary and Epic drops.

Play online to divide and conquer

Gotham Knights Boss fights and city patrols can be fun solo, but are much easier to tackle with a partner. Plus, combat is much more fun with someone else around. Warner Bros. Montreal has done a lot of work to make the game’s online multiplayer independent but stable, and if you’re not playing co-op you’re not really getting the “full” Gotham Knights live. Additionally, you can tackle objectives spread across the map much faster with an additional vigilante lying in wait. Even better, instead of rebooting when you die, your partner can revive you to get things going.
