Former Miss Universe Canada Siera Bearchell reflects on her ‘incredible’ body after baby

Siera Bearchell loves the resilience and strength of her body.

The 29-year-old former Canadian beauty pageant contestant posted a video on Wednesday recounting her pregnancy journey as she carried her baby and second child, Iver, whom she shares with husband Brennen Wray. In the Instagram reel, the Moose Jaw, Sask. The native showed off what her body looked like from the side, highlighting her growing belly, as English band The La’s “There She Goes” played.

“There is no journey that has made me appreciate my body more than the journey of pregnancy,” Bearchell wrote in her caption. “Women are truly amazing. We are capable of more than we know – mentally and physically. We are resilient, adaptable, strong, nurturing and just amazing. I am forever grateful for my body and the two gifts of life which he created.”

“I was in labor in the last video. Iver was born two hours later,” Bearchell added in a comment, while saying, “Our bodies are amazing!” and, “I can’t get over Lily’s tiptoes at the end”, in reference to her three-year-old daughter.

Fans showed their love for Bearchell in the comments, with many noting the beauty of the 2016 Miss Universe Canada winner.

In September, Bearchell spoke to Fashion magazine about her journey as a beauty pageant contestant and using the international Miss Universe platform for body positivity.

“I went from being that teenager who was so skinny people told me to eat a cheeseburger to becoming more athletic and plump in my twenties,” she explained, adding that when she first competed in the Miss Universe pageant in 2013, she was told she had a good chance of winning if she lost weight.

“I was told to eat as little as possible, and if I was really struggling, I could have chicken breast with vegetables once a day,” Bearchell explained, while saying she was also studying the law at the time at the University of Saskatchewan. and had difficulty concentrating due to a lack of energy.

“Some days I would take just one protein bar, half in the morning and the other half later, and then I would work out for hours,” she recalls. “I was so hungry I had trouble falling asleep at night. But I believed that was what I had to do to be successful.”

Bearchell was a size 0 at the time and didn’t even make it to the final. But in 2016, she decided to enter the Miss Universe pageant again, this time in size 8.

“I was like, ‘I’m going to do this my way.’ My body may not have been what the pageant world wanted, but I was proud of it. I wanted to be someone people could look up to and be myself wholeheartedly,” she said. , where she placed ninth in the competition that year.

“Body positivity and body confidence became my involuntary platform,” she added. “Yes, I’ve had trolls and faced a lot of nasty comments, but I’ve also had so many people supporting me and thanking me for being myself.”
