OG have been on the defensive lately, but even their high level of play couldn’t stop a red-hot Thunder team. The numbers are a bit deceiving for OG tonight. He got on well, although he didn’t get the calls. A more offensive production would have been nice, but this loss doesn’t rest solely on OG’s shoulders.

Whatever they said to Scottie at halftime, it must have worked because he looked and played very differently from the break. His shot selection and energy in the first half weren’t ideal, but he came on the edge with power to start the second half. It would have been nice to avoid it altogether, but at least that was nice to see from an otherwise lackluster performance.

The rookie has come back to earth a bit after his hot start earlier in the season. That’s not to say he didn’t contribute, but it’s all the clearer now that we’re watching a newcomer go through a bit.

Gary felt pretty invisible on offense at times in a game where the team could really use some juice up front. The matchup against the Shai isn’t exactly favorable for him either. Still, tonight wasn’t enough of Gary.

The All-Star did what he could to keep the Raptors on this one, but it just wasn’t meant to be. It’s been fun watching Freddie perform more off-the-ball action, something the Raptors should continue to do as the roster regains health later in the season.

The veteran was actually quite productive in his minutes tonight despite struggling early. Injuries may have forced Coach Nurse on hand, but Thad should be a permanent member of the future rotation.

B-
Even Boucher couldn’t give this team the shot of life it so desperately needed. He was relentless on the glass but, much like the rest of the Raptors, he was lax on the defensive side of the ball.

C
Porter was a welcome and necessary addition amid a now thin Raptors rotation. More shooting is always welcome on any Raptors team, but Porter couldn’t shoot them back in this one.

C
It feels like Banton got away from what made him so successful. The speed and energy off the bench doesn’t seem like it used to be. Banton is a player who has to work hard to be successful and he seems to have let that slip by.

If there’s anything positive to take at all, it could be the Spaniard’s first good stretch. He put a big smile on his face after hitting a three, and the energy on the defensive side has noticeably improved as well. Anything he can give you at this point is most welcome.

It’s too early to put all the blame for the team’s poor performance on Nurse, but it’s absolutely clear that more could have been done to prevent them falling into the pit.
