Mission Impossible director could join James Gunn’s DCU on one condition

Christopher McQuarrie says he would direct a DC movie if Pom Klementieff, an actor linked to his new film and DC boss James Gunn, is in the cast.


Christopher McQuarrie could consider moving from Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning to a project in the DC Universe movies only if a certain actor is present.

Prospects for Pom Klementieff in James Gunn’s DCU

Although Gunn has yet to release a full DCU timeline, he recently suggested that Klementieff will play a role in his franchise. Having played Mantis in various media since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Klementieff recently won acclaim for her performance in the spotlight on Disney+ Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special. The character’s arc – in which she and Drax attempt to cheer Peter Quill up over Christmas by kidnapping actor Kevin Bacon – was also referred to by Gunn as “Mantis’ true debut as herself at fully in the MCU, out of the background and out of the shadow of the ego.” She and the other heroes will return next year in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3which Klementieff described as “the end of a chapter” but also clarified that “it’s not like ‘over, over'” for the overall Guardians story.

Ever since he and Peter Safran were named co-CEOs of DC Studio, Gunn has sparked controversy online for removing established DCEU movies and actors from his upcoming universe.
