With Season 1 coming to an end, fans are already anticipating what’s to come in Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 Season 2: Release Date
As revealed in Overwatch 2’s first content roadmap, we know for sure Season 2 will air on Tuesday, December 2. Obviously coinciding with the end of Season 1, all original content will be immediately removed as the update rolls out.
Each season is expected to last nine weeks in total, which means players can expect Season 2 ends Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
What will happen in Overwatch 2 Season 2?
New Ramattra Tank Hero
The headliner of the Season 2 update is Ramattra, the next Tank Hero in Overwatch 2. First revealed during the OWL Grand Finals, this Omnic may be familiar to experienced players. Ramattra actually appeared in the Storm Rising 2019 event as a mysterious villain.
Launching into battle with two different modes, this character can switch between the standard Omnic form and the more aggressive Nemesis form. In the first, Ramattra fills a more defensive role, protecting his team while dealing poke damage from afar. Although the second mode turns him into a much larger force as he charges into battle.
As was the case with Kiriko in Season 1, Ramattra will not be immediately available to all players. You’ll need to unlock this Tank hero in the Season 2 Battle Pass up to level 55. You can, however, opt for the premium Battle Pass bundle which offers instant access for a fee.
Ramattra is sure to make up for the current meta when it debuts in Season 2.
New mysterious map
While we don’t know for sure where we’ll be headed in Season 2, we do know that a new map is on the way. As confirmed in the initial roadmap, Season 2 is expected to introduce just one new map to the pool, though it’s unclear which mode it’s for.
We could see another location for the new Push game type, or it could be an addition to one of the game’s more established modes. We’ll just have to wait and see what Blizzard has in store for us in the weeks coming.
Next Mythic Skin
We also know for sure that each new Battle Pass comes with its own mythic skin. Following the arrival of Mythic Genji in Season 1, it is not yet known which hero will receive the next customizable outfit.
We do know, however, that it won’t be Ramattra when it comes out. The developers confirmed this to Dexerto, revealing that plans are not yet underway for its own mythic-level cosmetic.
Overwatch 2 Season 2 Battle Pass
The Season 2 Battle Pass is expected to include the usual assortment of cosmetic items, plus additional rewards at the end for those who fight their way through.
From the aforementioned mythic skin to Ramattra at level 55, there’s plenty to unlock. Although the exact theme for the second season has yet to be revealed. So be sure to check back soon as we’ll update you here with more information as details emerge.
