ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED Packs Unparalleled versatility for on-the-go work and entertainment | geek culture

It flips, it folds, and most importantly, it works. Asus maintained a stellar reputation for pushing the boundaries of creativity, and the company once again demonstrated its prowess with the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED Laptop (UX9702) (read our review). Designed to be halfway between a tablet and a laptop, this ultraportable hybrid seems to offer new versatility, but without sacrificing hardware and display performance.

Here’s how it works. Unlike traditional clamshell builds, the world’s first foldable 17-inch OLED laptop can transform into a compact 12.5-inch alternative machine for on-the-go convenience, with six different modes available to users. The first, which is the familiar but traditional laptop mode, features a 3:2 aspect ratio that provides a viewing area similar to that of a conventional 13-inch, 16:9 laptop screen, and has a virtual keyboard for typing on the touch screen.

For those who prefer a more tactile feel, there’s a second option available where this small, capable laptop can also be hooked up to the ASUS ErgoSense keyboard and touchpad, both of which will sit on the lower screen. Extended Mode, on the other hand, works as two full-size 12.5-inch screens, with portrait orientation and wireless keyboard support offering more vertical space and easier navigation.

In its 17.3-inch state, the Zenbook 17 Fold can switch between desktop mode, tablet mode, and reader mode. The last feature, in particular, is great for e-book readers, as the vertical screen not only optimizes the experience, but also comes with certified low blue light emissions for better eye care.

The window management feature of ASUS’ intuitive ScreenXpert app serves to enhance this multi-screen experience. Device screens can be split in a variety of ways for maximum productivity and efficiency, with up to three windows in any mode. Landscape orientation, for example, will see the topmost window become the main window, while the others are automatically sized to fit via Mode Switcher, an icon that sits in the lower right corner.

Looks and shapes aside, one thing is consistent across the board, and the laptop remains light and thin in any state, measuring just 17.4mm when folded and barely 1.5 kg without its keyboard. That doesn’t mean the laptop is struggling to hold its own as it’s quite powerful with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, along with an Intel Iris Xe graphics card. Essentially, the Zenbook 17 Fold is a lean, mean machine that can be carried anywhere – and for long hours to boot.

Indeed, its 75 Wh battery ensures that the laptop will be able to last a full day of use, making the work and game experience even more enjoyable, especially when unfolded. At full size, its 2560 x 1920 resolution and 4:3 screen work together to bring increased immersion, while the 1920 x 1280 resolution continues to demonstrate its ability to produce decent visuals, despite the smaller form factor. .

The use of OLED technology also puts the Zenbook 17 Fold in an ideal place to deliver accurate colors, natural hues and vivid tones. Coupled with a 0.2 millisecond response time, the device promises a visual marvel that is packed with smooth and beautiful action. Switching between work, games and watching videos will never be as smooth as this.

As a laptop-tablet hybrid, the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has the flexibility to explore the limits of multitasking and creative work capabilities that conventional laptops otherwise cannot exploit. It offers a convenient one-stop solution for those who are often on the go, and isn’t just for show – the combination of performance, everyday functionality and adaptable shapes shows that versatility is king here.

The ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is available now and sells for S$5,499.
