But the fight to pave the way for his return as the man of tomorrow has not been easy, black adam said star Dwayne Johnson at the Canadian premiere of the DC film earlier this month.

“There were a lot of phone calls — and a lot of face-to-face meetings — to get over the finish line, as one would imagine,” Johnson said. “I can tell you — and my team can tell you — about our passion for this and why we believe it not only serves Black Adam but the greater DC Universe, but more importantly than that, it cares for the fans. So it was phone calls, meetings and it (took) years to get there.

The titular character Johnson plays is a god-powered anti-hero in the DC Universe, someone who isn’t afraid to kill evildoers – a trait that put him at odds with Superman in the comics. .

After Cavill’s absence from the DC Extended Universe, Johnson said the return of Superman – a man of steel 2 is now rumored to be in development – and a possible full-screen showdown between the two opponents is in the cards.

“I’ve been listening and wanting to talk to fans for years,” Johnson recently told CinemaBlend. “I was waiting for someone to step in and address the fans and say, ‘Hey, we hear you’… The focus and the intent is now in this new era, this new era. Now let’s build it.

Not all future films featuring iconic DC characters will be “unique”, said producer Hiram Garcia.

“Black Adam is a character who is now sending ripples throughout the DC Universe,” Garcia added in a separate interview with the Sun. “If we get the opportunity to tell more stories, we’ll really dig into that.”

Garcia, who served as Johnson’s producing partner on films such as Jumanji, Hobbs & Shaw, red notice, Jungle Cruise and more, called Cavill’s Superman cameo a “family dream,” but said it wasn’t an easy thing to pull off.

“We worked very hard to achieve this, and it was a lot of work. I’m not going to lie about this. It took me, (producer) Dany (Garcia), Dwayne, Flynn Picture Co., we all worked to make this happen,” Garcia said. “We wouldn’t take no for an answer. We didn’t hear much, but we kept going. We knew what the fans wanted and we knew what we wanted and we know what this character means to the world. So we wanted to be able to deliver it.

Now that the film has hit theaters, Garcia has enjoyed seeing and hearing the fan reaction to Cavill’s return.

“We make movies for fans, we are fans at heart, so bringing this character back into the DC Universe and continuing this story is a dream come true.”

Johnson, who had tried to get a black adam film made for 15 years, said at a press conference in June that black adam, which also stars Pierce Brosnan (Doctor Fate), Aldis Hodge (Hawkman), Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher) and Quintessa Swindell (Cyclone), will now usher in a new era of storytelling for DC on the big screen. Next year will see three new films starring three DC superheroes – Shazam! Fury of the gods, the flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

“I am 100% committed not only black adambut then expanding black adam the universe and the DC Universe,” Johnson said. “So this is the start, hopefully, fingers crossed, of a very long road of storytelling where black adam is the anchor jet fuel that will push the universe (DC) outward.
